Antibiotic discs are typically placed in an agar plate that contains a colony of bacteria overnight. This causes the antibiotics in the disc to spread out into the bacteria-covered agar and results in a high concentration closest to the disc and a lower one farther from it. If you measure how much space the antibiotic protects on the disc, you can measure its efficacy against the bacteria.

At Blades Biological Ltd, we sell antibiotic discs in cartridges of 50, and multi test disc in packs of 10, 50 and 100. We also provide blank assay discs to use as a control.
