This set is used to demonstrate that ATP, potassium ions and magnesium ions are required for muscle contraction.
To observe and measure contraction of muscle fibres.
To observe striated muscle tissue under a microscope.

Although the muscle is no longer alive it retains the ability to contract when the ATP and ions are added. Students can measure the muscle shortening without a microscope.

Set Includes:

Glycerinated skeletal muscle (rabbit). Place in the freezer upon arrival.

ATP and chemical solutions. (5ml of each) Use chemicals within 5-7 days.
